Marwa Tawfik
Marwa Tawfik is a visual artist based in Cairo, Egypt. She captures one's lived experience on canvas; where each and every painting has symbols such as tiger, flower, woman, butterfly... etc. that convey a phase that women go through. In other words, she tells a story through each painting; it can be a state of mind, feeling or a phase that women are going through.
The reason why she follows this school of art is her passion for both psychology and art. The result is an artwork with depth and a story behind.
She represented the phase of strength by adding a tiger, phase of weakness by adding butterflies, phase of depression by adding dark colours, phase of peacefulness by adding peonies, phase of mental captivity... etc.
In addition to the above, each painting is named and inspired by a famous quote.
She did her first solo exhibition in the CAIRO OPERA HOUSE a couple of years ago, and it was a big success. Followed by participating in group exhibitions organised by the OPERA HOUSE.
