Marisol Grijalva
A Latin American artist, born and raised in Quito - Ecuador, I have lived many years in Paris, London and Dubai.
These stages in my life and my fascination for travelling around the world has given my artwork a more globalist and multicultural approach, however part of my style has maintained a reflection of my roots and origin, which can be recognized in the strong colors, rustic touch and earthy mediums I use.
I am passionate about sculpting and I use clay as my medium, this is an exciting journey that never stops surprising me.
My inspiration comes from my life story, I have gone through hardship and have come up undefeated, this has profoundly deepened in me the sensitivity to detect emotional traits that may pass unnoticed by others.
My works are mainly representations of humans’ inner qualities, focusing especially on the strength and resilience of women and the innocence of children.
I believe in honoring our imperfections. I find in the unusual and the broken the hidden beauty and try to capture the essence of it.
I aim for my artwork to speak for itself, as it is said, if art must be explained it loses its true meaning.
I see the extraordinary in ordinary things and transform it into art.
