Lawrence F. Crane
Self Portrait at 27, 2021 - Oil on canvas
60 x 90 cm - £5,200.00
'Self Portrait at 27' depicts an examination, reflection and moving forward.
It is an examination of my past in which, through EMDR and CBT therapy treatments, I was able to pull the thread and examine every dew drop of experience in an honest way.
Through this examination, the dichotomy of trauma and beauty, which are profoundly linked, unfolds together.
It is about seeing the good for all that it is, acknowledging the shadow and not allowing the pain to dictate one's experience of the world.
To step forward into your own authentic self.

Lawrence is a self-taught, contemporary Artist based in London.
He has developed his painting and drawing techniques inspired by the classical approach to draughtsmanship and oil painting. Within each work, Lawrence aims to connect narrative, stories, the interconnection with others and the world that they inhabit.
Through figurative realism, he wants to capture an authentic and honest narrative of our own experiences and allow the work to open the conversation in regard to our own experiences, both positive and negative.
It is our connection within ourselves and to those around us that shapes our experience. By being able to nurture this, we can clearly articulate our own truth and voice.
Lawrence's work focuses on mental health, which is the response to his experiences on the impact that mental health has on our physical and emotional connection within ourselves and our connection to those we are surrounded by.
