Alexandre Gondim
I was born in Salvador, a beautiful and inspiring city in the Northeast of Brazil.
I started painting at the age of 13, figurative themes with an impressionist style in an art school. It was my first contact with many materials and ways of artistic expression.
After a while, I stopped painting. No apparently reason, I just stopped.
I’ve always been very creative and enjoyed computers. For that reason, I decided to study Advertising. As a self-learning student, I learned how to use graphic software’s and I chose art directing as my career.
In 2003, I went to Sao Paulo, financial and cultural centre of Brazil, where I lived for 3 years. I had the opportunity of working in many advertising agencies and could make a good portfolio, designing for national and international brands.
After this experience full of ups and downs, I decided to go back to Salvador. It was when I painted my first picture in abstract style, entitled “The eye of the phoenix”. From that time on, I chose abstract art as my style for all my following paintings.
I’ve been to London for six years where I exhibited my work in some art events and group and solo shows.
My influences include Kandinsky, Pollock, Miró, Picasso, Romero Britto, Neil Kerman and Vicky Barranguet.
