There is a world that beats to a different rhythm
A world of agitators, creatives and curators
In warehouse buildings in trendy East London
The white walls are the backdrop to works
by graffiti artists, painters and illustrators
The high ceilinged room and deep windows
allow light to cascade in
An acoustic guitar is strummed with commitment
The player skinny in a youthful, hipster fashion
The collaborators at opposite ends of the spectrum of experience
have created a new synergy
Their distinctive symbols and messages
enhanced by the contrast of light and dark
The women at the art event are tall and skinny
or short and boyish
Their individuality - a dress code for their sexuality and sensuality
The quiet murmur from friends is an audio canvas to the selling of art
and a new satirical book
The cobbled lane outside, with smatterings of tall spindly trees in pots
Is reminiscent of the canal area in Milan
The event continues but we depart,
a painting acquired and carried under one arm
Precious cargo for the trip home.
