A.E. Richardson is a self-taught photographer who uses digital manipulation to tell stories about our choices, layered emotional states, and paths. Drawing on her background in mental health and behavioral research, A.E. aims to use art to connect, awaken and inspire.
All of A.E.’s images begin with a concept – such as hope, fear, connection, love, and release. She photographs elements and draws them together in a fluid manner to form a story symbolic of an emotion or state. Images tend toward dark backgrounds with elements of nature and motion woven throughout. This is for a purpose as she believes in the interplay between light and dark, stillness and movement, and a world that exists beyond our own.
Ultimately, her message is one of faith and healing as she believes that art can speak in ways that words cannot and can reach into crevices of ourselves that we may not even know are there.
